Elliot Mujaji, Former Paralympian Athlete
Mujaji is a former Zimbabwean track and field athlete. He started his career as an able-bodied athlete before he was injured in an electrical accident which resulted in the amputation of his right arm. After recovering, he resumed training and qualified to compete at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney. He won a Gold medal in the 100 metres sprint – Zimbabwe’s first-ever Paralympic Gold medal. Mujaji competed at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, winning a Gold medal in the 100 metres sprint, and at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. He later formed the Athletics Academy in Zvishavane which helps train young athletes.
