Egnetha Dongo, Asylum seeker & domestic worker
Due to the dire economic situation in Zimbabwe in 2008, Dongo was forced to leave her young daughter in search of work in South Africa. She went to South Africa as an asylum seeker. She is now working as a domestic worker in Cape Town, living in the informal settlement in Cape Town with her son, and supporting her family back in Zimbabwe. Her story is that of the many millions of Zimbabweans who have been forced to leave their home country to support relatives back home.
